why i love fandom
I know I used to have interesting things to say (or at least I thought I did) but they all seem to be gone now. I don't know what that's about.
However, I've been reading a lot of fic from various fandoms for the past few weeks and I even started to write something (I KNOW, RIGHT? WHO AM I?) and I have once again been surrounded by my love of fandom.
WHY I LOVE FANDOM
I watched a pilot ep on youtube for a show that never aired, Nikki & Nora, featuring lesbian cops, New Orleans, and CHRISTINA COX OMG. I figured someone had to have written fic about it, so I went to look. Hello, long, plotty, well written fic! It was like my birthday came early.
Dennis and I then had this conversation:
L: So I found several really awesome Nikki & Nora fics.
D: There was only one episode ever made.
L: Yes, but the premise was cool. That's how fic happens.
D: Those are YOUR people.
And I thought, proudly, yes. Yes, they are.
I had that feeling again tonight while watching Aliens vs. Predators. I made a bet with myself that I could find fic with Sanaa Lathan's character (SANAA LATHAN OMG) getting it on with the Predator that she bonded with and sure enough, there it is.

Ike was having trouble breathing tonight and so we made an emergency vet trip. He was responding to the oxygen and breathing treatments and then the vet came running out and when I saw her face I knew.

I had a root canaled tooth that I never had the money to have crowned, and it broke a few weeks ago. It couldn't be saved, so I had to go to the ORAL SURGEON WTF to have it removed this morning.
