this was a very looooooooong weekend.
Sep. 23rd, 2007 10:53 pmTHINGS I HAVE SURVIVED THIS WEEKEND, IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER:
- Eight hours in a car with Leadfoot Lallier (aka Amy) and Sara, who gets motion sickness if you sneeze on her.
- Six hours of Comcast cable's "tech support." It took them SIX HOURS to fix the problem. We'll see if it's still fixed next week.
- Watching someone close to me put someone she loved dearly into the ground.
- Pouring rain at the cemetary. So much rain, in fact, that in order to get back to the van, I was forced to take off my heels and walk barefoot through the cemetary, unavoidably violating the dignity of the dead.
- When I got back into the van, I realized that my period, which has been substantially late and actually a cause for concern, had arrived. I noticed it because the blood was dripping down my leg. There was nothing in the car to use but my nephew's diapers, so I stuck a pamper between my legs and prayed for a bathroom.
- Then, after finally, FINALLY getting home, Amy dragged me for about fifteen feet with the van. Yes, you read that right. I wasn't done getting out of the van when she decided to pull off, leaving the door waving in the wind and my feet dragging on the road. After hearing my bloodcurdling screams, she stopped. Fortunately, the only complains I have are bloody feet and a broken shoe.
