(no subject)
Jan. 25th, 2004 09:57 pmI spent all of Tuesday night avoiding the State of the Union address. Every time THE CLICKMASTER Jim would switch channels and the Shrub would appear, I would hide my face and whimper, "Make the bad man go away!" And if that didn't cause him to immediately change the channel, I would make high pitched whining noises until he complied.
I didn't watch it. I didn't have enough energy to spare to be aggravated. Reading on my flist bits of the idiocy he spouted has only confirmed my decision as a wise one. For the record, I am still in denial that that man is the leader of my country.
I am an unmarried, mostly queer heathen. Is he going to draft legislation to jail me without cause for the rest of my life, to protect the sanctity of whatthefuckever?
Why do people care what other consenting adults do in the privacy of their own homes? Who cares? Who has the time to care? What do these people do for a living that allows them the privilege of having the free time to meddle in everyone else's life? Get a job, people! Adopt a crack baby. Feed the homeless. Visit with elderly shut-ins. Do SOMETHING useful, instead of spewing hate and ignorance about others.
The Shrub's propensity for waving his Bible around is nauseating. Dude, say what you mean instead of couching it in some religious nonsense. Be a jerkoff on your own terms. Don't hide behind the Lord.
It is my personal belief that blind adherence to religious dogma is a crutch that people cling to when they cannot make up their own minds on a subject.
"I feel this way because GOD TELLS ME TO."
God hasn't told you jack shit. Some man in a collar spouted that wisdom to you, probably after he finished molesting one of the altar boys. There is no God in that.
Go sit outside. Watch the sun rise. *That's* God.
Everything else is just something someone pulled out their ass a couple hundred years ago.
(Obviously, the preceding rant was only intended to point out my own beliefs. While I have issues with organized religion, I realize that many people do not, and I mean no offense to you or your personal belief system.)
And now, I am off to watch The L Word.
