Feb. 5th, 2004 10:18 amTaken from http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/02/04/gay.marriage/index.html:
Underscoring its original ruling last November, Massachusetts' highest court said Wednesday that only full marriage rights for gay couples, not civil unions, would be conform to the state's constitution.
The ruling sets the stage for Massachusetts later this year to likely become the first state in the nation to allow same-sex marriages.
In a statement released Wednesday night, President Bush said the ruling was "deeply troubling.
"Marriage is a sacred institution between a man and a woman," Bush said. "If activist judges insist on re-defining marriage by court order, the only alternative will be the constitutional process. We must do what is legally necessary to defend the sanctity of marriage."
In his State of the Union address January 20, the president stopped short of endorsing a constitutional amendment that would ban marriages for gay and lesbian couples, as social conservative groups had hoped.
But he said, "... if judges insist on forcing their arbitrary will upon the people, the only alternative left to the people would be the constitutional process."
So what's to stop our president from forcing his arbitrary will upon us?
I know...
Janet Jackson's TIT will save us.

I cannot adequately convey how much I completely and totally loathe the fact that The Shrub is the leader of MY COUNTRY. I was browsing through a completely non-political lj community, and someone made a funny Bush crack, and another member said something to the effect of, "Wow, I can't believe how anti- our president this community is."
First of all, the last time I checked, lj was an international community, and second, "our" president is pretty much anti-me and everything I stand for, so he can pretty much BITE MY BIG FAT ASS.
I have just heard a rumor that someone brought in donuts, so I'm off to search and destroy.
