pointless mini-rant
Aug. 7th, 2002 05:58 pm...but secretaries have been known to become infatuated with their superiors...
Why do people persist in thinking this? Why is every bad made-for-tv movie obliged to feature an awkward, old-maid secretary pining away with love for her married boss? Why does every cheesy Harlequin feature the dorky girl with a heart of gold who falls for her manly boss?
I am a secretary. Many of my female friends are also secretaries.
None of us are in love with our bosses.
I love mine dearly, but even if I was inclined towards his gender, there would still be no way on earth it would ever happen. And wow, that's really a disgusting thing to think about.
And for the record, we are not all sad, pathetic old maids with no one to love them except a houseful of cats and rooms full of books...okay, I'm not helping myself here.
*grin*
You get the point.
DISCLAIMER: This rant was inadvertently caused by an otherwise excellent X-Files fic I read yesterday.
