Best. Website. Ever.

It echoes a comment Jimmy made earlier in the week.

"Why did we fight to keep those states again? Someone tell them they can secede now."

(Chelle, Andra, Gena, Kris...I love you guys, I just wish you were here and not there. :-)

Thanks for the reassurance that you still love some Southerners (of course you did pick four of us who voted for Kerry ) My parents and alot of my friends also voted Democratic - sigh. What really bothers me is that a lot of people say you can't be a Christian and vote Democratic - that is plain wrong - I am a Christian and I try to live by those values and I go to church and my whole family voted for Kerry. And it bothers me that those people think they can judge me on my values by how I vote!! Sorry for ranting in your journal!

That kicks ass. I absolutely love it. For me, the only redeeming factor of moving down south is that I will be only three hours from Chelle. Pray that it won't be otherwise hellish.

It won't be hellish. Every time it gets close to hellish I'll drive over there to see you for the weekend and we can cast and meditate or something. Fear not!!

The South, if you overlook the racism, the incest, the bible thumping, gun toting, liberal hating, homophobia, and twang, is really a charming and beautiful place. People are generally decent and willing to help you out. I mean, I ran out of gas the other day because I'm an asshat and I was stalled for two freaking seconds and four cars stopped to help me. This one truck had two little old men in it and one stayed with me while the other went and bought me a gallon of gas. It was so sweet and they wouldn't let me pay them.

There's just something calming about the South. You're gonna experience it when you move down here and see for yourself how people interact with each other. It's "please" and "thank you" and "how are you" and "bless your heart".

Besides, home is where the heart is and you and Tom have more heart and love than anybody I know. :)

I can't wait to have you here. :)

Lex, I know you love me. :) How could you resist? You even love my twang ... I know you do.

I'm currently fighting to get out of the south. My feelings on the subject are usually expressed by saying, "Baby, can we please move somewhere with normal, sinful people?"

Yeah, there are some nice people in the south. But I just think that the religious zealotry outweighs the niceness. I'm so freaking tired of being surrounded by people who think that what Bush is doing is ok.

I'm sure I'll have lots of fun visiting New Orleans for the weekend, once I live in Vermont. :o)

Thanks for the comfort, sweetie. It's just going to take some getting used to, being an impatient New Yorker with road rage. We will just have to spend lots of time together, that's all. :-)

And let's not forget that Jimmy Carter is a southern Christian Democrat. :)

Not from the south but from a red state. *sigh*

Well, though the site is interesting, I have to point out that not all of the founding fathers were from the Northeast, including the "Father of our Country". *g*

Thank you! He is a perfect example and he's done so much with Habitat for Humanity etc, that he can be proud of since he was President too.

I don't understand what religion has to do with politics, y'know? Like if there were a candidate who was a practioner of some obscure religion whose platform represented everything that you wanted, you (not you personally, you in the broadest sense of the term) couldn't vote for him because he wasn't Christian?

WTFever.

I'm not Christian. By and large, I'm not a fan of any religion. But this whole voting based on religious affiliation makes no sense!
