Clearly the *in* thing right now from the ebook publishers is one woman ending up with multiple men.  This can be due to several different plot devices, like the scarcity of women on the planet, brothers choosing the same woman, whatever.

I have to suspend disbelief A LOT when I read books like this.  I totally understand the fantasy of more than one partner at a time.  I mean, if it takes a whole bunch of 'em to get you off, more power to you.

It's one thing to enjoy a menage a whatever, but it's another thing entirely to end up with more than one permanently.

My god!  One is enough of a pain in the ass.  Can you imagine two or three more?

Look at your couch.  Can you imagine THREE men sitting there, watching football, dirtying clothes that someone (probably you) will have to wash?

It's bad enough to have one hard-on poking you while you're trying to sleep.  But three?  OMGWTF.

That's not a fantasy in my book.

That is a NIGHTMARE.

It would be different if in these books everyone was involved in the relationship rather than all the men waiting around for an available female orifice.  But I can count on one hand the number of stories that feature m/m in addition to m/f and m/f/m.

Do I just not get the fantasy?  Is my fantasizer defective?

No way are you defective. Some of my fantasties would never ever work in RL. I certainly wouldn't want to clean, grocery shop and deal with three men at once. Can you imagine the grocery cart? Jesus. Extra booty is one thing but a permanent relationship. Nuh uh.

God, grocery shopping. I hadn't even thought that far ahead. You would need more than one fridge, definitely.

GAH.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Oh, no, you're not alone, sister. I want a relationship of equals, not a Letter to Penthouse rewritten in "erotica" format. kthnx.

There are a few that I've read, but like everything else in the fiction world, you have to comb through a lot of crap to find the good stuff.

The fact is, good m/m and f/f fic is hard to come by even in the "pro" world. *sigh*

It seems that the signal to noise ratio is fairly low lately. I guess housewives all over are basking in the fantasy without having really thought it through.

Well, it's like any other romance fiction in some respects -- there's an awful lot of crap out there that passes as "good" because it's popular. And popularity is a self-perpetuating mechanism in this industry. The more something sells, the more publishers ask for it. They don't care that much about the *meaning* or even the *quality* as long as there's smut.

It's a major bummer. The only place the problem's not quite so bad is in paranormal romance, and there, like everywhere else, there's a dearth of gay, bi, and multiple relationships.

LOLOL

If I'd ever want three men (or, y'know, one) they'd be fulfilling my fantasies by doing the dishes, scrubbing the bathroom, mowing the lawn, changing the baby...

*g*

Now *that* would be a fantasy.

...cleaning the creatures cages, organize the garages (something I've been putting off for 3 years), build/clean/and maintain a pool, fan me while lounging by the pool...
huh... may just be on to something here

I was going to comment, but it turned into a post in my journal...I'm actually going to be writing something w/this sort of relationship - one woman and three men - and it's going to be messy and complicated and I'm really looking forward to the challenge of writing it. I'm hoping to avoid the pitfalls of some fo the really bad stuff out there, and the book is likely to become very long, just because it will be so very complicated.

I cannot STAND the whole Penthouse Letters type fo writing [livejournal.com profile] theantijoss referenced above, just FYI. :)

Hmmmm, now if I could have three really, er, *talented* guys who'd then all go home and not bother me till our regularly scheduled bonk-fest, well, now that'd work.

Cleaning the bathroom after three guys? *twitch* Hey, wait a minute, I do that now! (Jim (the husband, of course), Jeremy (the son), and Dan (the unofficially adopted son) -- and not a one of 'em can pick up his dirty boxers or scrape his hair out of the bathtub! *twitch* *shudder*)

There are times, I swear, that lesbianism appeals to me! (And this is a weird comment, going from multiple males to no males at all!)

OH... I've lived that fantasy, only without the menage a thingy.

I had three boys, but I was only sleeping with one.

The fantasy part (I think) is that it functions and the girl DOESN'T have to clean up after three guys.

For me, the situation worked because I had a boy for all occasions.

I had one that liked to take me shopping.

I had one that cleaned stuff. (Military boys with insomnia are weird like that... Just... supervise their first encounter with a dishwasher. They may need th emotional support to get through the feeling of having been replaced...)

And I had one that liked to dress up and take me places.

It was very nice for the two years that it lasted... Then my two extra boys moved out and I found out that the one I kept was lame without the support of the other two. :-P
