There is nothing worse than being in the middle of a story that you are enjoying when you suddenly slam into something that is so offputting, you can no longer continue to read.

If Character A is having unprotected anal sex with Character B, and then suddenly decides to switch to vaginal sex, he needs to CLEAN UP FIRST. Because, if not, say hello to a raging vaginal infection.

This is hygiene, not rocket science.

I'm right there with you. Luckily I only read one author, and I like her stuff a lot, so I forgive her. But I do have a problem with this, too.

I also theorize that vampires don't have bodily waste, and I only read Buffy fic so far, so half the time it's no big deal. But there is a definite ick factor with humans.

It's just gross and wrong and people should THINK before they write. I can understand if you're writing about practices you haven't personally experienced, but find someone who has and ASK, damn it.

Or, y'know, just think about what they're writing. I really don't see how that fact can be missed. This must be just another part of the curse of being Not A Dumbfuck, I guess.
