Aug. 25th, 2003 07:41 amAfter a few trips to my friendly local ER, TWENTY different vials of blood, and two weeks leave from work, it has been determined that I have ... Mono! And as a complication to the mono, I have also developed a case of hepatitis.
From the National Center for Infectious Diseases:
Epstein-Barr Virus and Infectious Mononucleosis
Epstein-Barr virus, frequently referred to as EBV, is a member of the herpesvirus family and one of the most common human viruses. The virus occurs worldwide, and most people become infected with EBV sometime during their lives.
Check.
When infection with EBV occurs ... it causes infectious mononucleosis 35% to 50% of the time.
Check.
Symptoms of infectious mononucleosis are fever, sore throat, and swollen lymph glands.
Check.
Sometimes, a swollen spleen or liver involvement may develop.
Check.

I can honestly say that I have never had a throat so swollen in my entire life. Nor have I had glands swollen to the size of golf balls.
But my main nemesis is the fatigue that causes me to sleep constantly.

Hope you're feeling better.
